Sometime in the early part of August 1969, while serving with Bravo company, 2nd/35th, a dirty and tired 21 year old grunt hooked a lift to Camp Enari with you guys.I was brown from head to foot instead of "OD" green! I really must have been sorry looking; instead of dropping me off at the 4thID pad, you brought me over to Holloway, into your officer's club and bought me quite a few beers. What a way to start an R&R!!! Thanks so much for the beers, the resupply, the gun support, and the lifts out (lets forget the ca's in). Thanks guys. | |

| Wrote... On Memorial Day 2000, May 29th, at 9:00 am, the City of La Canada Flintridge will unveil a memorial plaque with the names of 5 men who died in Vietnam. One of those names will be Loren Eugene Engstrom, who was with the "Buccaneers" of the 170th Assault Helicopter Company. His tour began on March 20, 1968 and he was killed on November 13, 1968 Some of his family members will be there. | Wrote... I was in the Bikinis and Bucs Feb 68 to Feb 69 I think these dates are close. I have personally visited with Phil Hill, Bob Rooney, Dean Short, and Gary Deal, and Cory Vergotz (sp) Buc Crew Chief. I plan on attending the 52nd reunion in St Louis in October and Bob Rooney will be attending also. Would like to invite any and all Camp Holloway personnel to attend. I have some pictures to send as soon as i get them finished, also I have some of the newspapers from the USS POPE that I saved I hope they will benefit the company.
